A crowd of about 150 library fans gathered at the Highland
Avenue library site on a cool and breezy Sunday, October 17,
2004, afternoon to witness a ceremonial groundbreaking for the
reconstruction of the Needham Public Library.

On Saturday, October 2, the Friends of the Library will hold our first
book sale of the 2004-2005 year.
This will be the first book sale in the
High Rock School.

After several weeks of work clearing the interior and making
structural preparations, demolition of the exterior structure
of the 1961 and 1981 additions took place August 26-31, 2004.

The Library reopened in its temporary location at the High
Rock School on Monday, July 19, 2004 at 10:00 a.m.

The Library closed for the last time in its current Highland
Avenue building at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26.

The Friends’ Blowout Book Sale ran from Saturday, June 12
